ELECTROMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION
Through its BrainFoodToGo.com outlet, Electromedia Technologies Corporation is a publisher and distributor of sponsored audio content for Internet and wireless distribution to members of affinity groups

Its current role is aligned with its initial mission, articulated in 1963 when the company was formed: “Using radio and television technologies to serve diverse electronic communication needs of business and industry.” That was, of course, before the internet, personal computers and the world-wide-web. Today, its raison d’être embraces contemporary technologies and their emerging applications in the business world.

ETC was launched to help business operators use radio and television to increase their firms’ productivity and marketing prowess.  Since then, it has continually expanded its portfolio of eclectic services to exploit obscure market niches that were created by emerging technology.

The firm’s principal specialty has been the conversion – and compression – of traditional print data into audio form so that it can be quickly, conveniently accessed.  In addition to enhancing information absorption by utilizing on an additional level of sensory awareness, ETC’s audio-based methodology afforded information consumers a new opportunity for multitasking in a way that improved their personal productivity.  Using simple technology to deliver carefully crafted content, listeners could learn and be informed in entertaining ways, at times convenient for them.

Initially, ETC produced radio and television programming – the original “infomercials” – for market-driven business firms. In 1963, it contributed to the birth of electronic “distance learning” with its production of the televised Supervisor Development program, which was supported and certified by the Administrative Management Society. In 1969 its audio and video products were supplemented with computer based simulations for corporate training applications.  Later, ETC provided audio cassette based personal financial management programs to the association of professional hockey players.

Over time, ETC began to concentrate on creating simple but profitable adaptations of complex technology to common, widely demonstrated but underserved business and consumer needs. One of ETC’s principals was a founder of a company that successfully “dumbed-down” the process of providing useable software to early computers users.  By introducing simplicity to master a wave of new technology, the company grew to a world-wide enterprise with over $25 billion in sales.  He also was a creator of the first successful shared, in-store, electronic banking network which ultimately served over one-hundred-and-fifty banks and handled almost one-hundred million transactions annually.  In addition, ETC was the guiding force behind the first public offering of securities via a broadcast satellite network.  In every instance, complex technology was harnessed to perform simple tasks for a large number of users.

Electromedia Technologies Corp. professionals have been pioneers in many aspects of electronic communications. Some of their firsts in "electromedia history" include:
  • Production of the first ninety-second and thirty-minute radio and television "infomercials" for national broadcast and mail distribution by a financial institution
  • Presentation of the first televised certificate program for managers and supervisors sponsored by the Administrative Management Society
  •  Production, for the American Stock Exchange, of a television series that was the forerunner to TV's popular "Wall Street Week"
  • Creation of one of the first computer based simulations for the purpose of educating managers of business enterprises.
  • Establishment of the first national video satellite network that served a variety of corporations including Ford Motor Co. and NBC Television.
  • Utilization of nationwide satellite video conferencing to market an initial public stock offering.
  • Origination of the popular family money management vignettes for "P.M. Magazine," a nationally syndicated TV show
  • Creation of a personal finance audio cassette series providing college credit for participating members of the Professional Hockey Players Association
