Innovating for over a half century!
Electromedia Technologies LLC, publishes and distributes Patroned™ eBooks, audio books, podcasts, and sponsored audio and video content for Internet distribution by corporations, affinity groups, and newspapers. In addition it creates and curates content for proprietary web sites.
Through its Brass Tacks Publishing imprint, it also publishes traditional print trade paperback books and on-demand books for authors and independent publishers.
Markets currently served include: customer relationship management units of commercial enterprises; college and university alumni associations; chambers of commerce and economic development groups; financial services firms; professional organizations; and print and digital newspapers.
Its current business endeavors are aligned with its original mission, articulated in 1963 when the company was formed: “Using radio and television technologies to serve diverse electronic communication needs of business and industry.” That was, of course, before the Internet, personal computers, the world-wide-web, and digital books, audios, and videos. Since then, it has continually expanded its portfolio of diverse services to exploit market niches that are created by expanding technology. Today, its raison d’être embraces "the application of emerging technologies to the distribution of knowledge and know-how."
The firm’s principal specialty has been the creation, curation, compression, and conversion of information and experience-based insights into digital formats so that it can be quickly, conveniently accessed and utilized. Its products enhance information absorption by appealing to often ignored levels of sensory awareness.
Founded in 1962 as Educational Features Co., Electromedia Technologies Corporation (ETC) quickly evolved to produce radio and television programming – the original “infomercials” – for market-driven business firms. Over time, its menu of services expanded and diversified. In 1963, it contributed to the birth of electronic “distance learning” with its production of the televised Supervisors Development Course, which was supported and certified by the Administrative Management Society. This line of endeavor was supplemented in 1969 with computer based simulations for corporate training.
Later, Electromedia Technologies diversified further by becoming one of the first and largest producers of personal financial management and business management educational programs that were distributed by the broadcast media, newspapers, financial institutions, and professional associations.
Eventually, its product line grew to include radio and television programs, computer simulations, CDs, DVDs, MP3 files, podcasts, syndicated newspaper columns, print trade books, digital e-Books, podcasts, and audio books.
Electromedia Technologies concentrates on creating simple but profitable adaptations of complex technology to common, but under-served, business and consumer needs. ETC's founder, Paul Willax, had considerable experience in technology simplification. He was a founder of a company that successfully simplified the process of providing reliable, affordable software to early computers users. By introducing a comprehensive system to aggregate, test, package, and distribute new technology, that company grew to a world-wide enterprise with over $45 billion in sales.
Willax also was a creator of the first successful shared, in-store, electronic banking network which served over one-hundred-and-fifty banks and handled almost one-hundred million transactions annually.
Electromedia Technologies was a guiding force behind the first public offering of securities via a proprietary broadcast satellite network.
In every instance, complex technology was harnessed to economically provide valuable, understandable, actionable insights to large numbers of users.
During the past fifty-five years, Electromedia Technologies professionals have been pioneers in many aspects of electronic communications. Some of their firsts in "electromedia history" include:
